Complete Natural Nutrition
Creators of nutritional treats that allow pets to thrive
By Leila Lotfi
Complete Natural Nutrition’s philosophy is ‘simple is better.’ Its nutritional treats are ideal solutions for dogs and cats that have allergies, diabetes, are overweight, finicky or are on restricted diets.
“We’re not a treat company; we’re a nutrition company,” says Peter Kaufman, president of Complete Natural Nutrition. “We develop treat solutions for independent retailers and customers.”
Complete Natural Nutrition, based in Marshalltown, Iowa, aims to eliminate all the junk ingredients and give retailers and clients the knowledge that what they’re getting is a solution.
“As nutritionists, we’re passionate about educating pet owners to read ingredients,” Kaufman says. “We highlight the ingredient statement on the back of our bags and offer full disclosure to our customers so they know what they’re getting from us.”
Striving to be the world’s healthiest pet treat company, Complete Natural Nutrition tests all products on humans first.

“Everything we do is about developing treats that aren’t going to contribute to [pet] obesity,” Kaufman says. “We don’t use sugar or salt and our treats have very little carbohydrates.”
Complete Natural Nutrition is the creator of Real Food Toppers, Cheese Please and most recently, Terrabone, the world’s first US-made edible dental chew bone that is 100 percent natural and 50 percent organic. Terrabone (terra=Latin for earth) is made with organic brown rice, and is the first to clean teeth and freshen breath with peppermint oil and parsley.
“There’s been nothing like it ever before,” Kaufman says. “Terrabone is the product we hope will take us to the next level with independent retailers. Every ingredient was hand-picked to maximize safety, digestibility, functionality and palatability.”
Real Food Toppers, the company’s flagship product, only uses one ingredient – 100 percent pure meat, whether chicken breast, beef sirloin, wild salmon or beef liver. Real Food Toppers has no grains, no corn, no soy, no wheat, no sugar, no carbohydrates and very low salt. In addition, these treats are conveniently packaged in a foil-lined bag, allowing a two-year shelf life.
“There are very few companies that use foil-lined bags,” Kaufman says. “That’s an extra step we take to ensure quality.”
Cheese Please is the first people snack disguised as a dog treat. It’s low in lactose and low in salt with no sugar, no wheat, no grains and no soy … just pure Wisconsin cheese. These treats are ideal for training and rewarding as each nugget contains only 3 calories of 100 percent baked cheese.
“There’s no other treat like it packaged for dogs,” Kaufman says.
“We’re the only company in the industry that’s focused on treat solutions for independent retailers,” Kaufman says. “If you want the world’s best product or have a sick pet, you come to us.” <HOME>
