By Dan Barton, owner of Hollywood Premier Pet, founder of Splash and Dash for Dogs and 2010-2011 Retailer of the Year Runner-Up Award recipient for Outstanding Merchandising
Drawing on experience in the gym world (former CFO of World Gym), I saw potential in a membership bathing system and from that vision, Splash and Dash for Dogs was born. The monthly membership fee provides unlimited access to a spa-like treatment consisting of a hydro-massage bath, conditioning rinse, hand blow-dry and brush out. The program serves as a convenient means for members to keep their dogs clean and fresh, provides steady cash flow for the business through membership dues and generates retail revenue with the influx of customers taking part in the bathing service.
Our customers have become our most compelling marketing instrument to date with their excitement about the program. Word of mouth advertising is truly our finest marketing medium.
With the success of Splash and Dash For Dogs in my own store, I have trademarked the name and am offering the licensing service, making the system available throughout the country. We support our licensees by providing sales training through our Splash and Dash University, sharing best marketing practices and offering ongoing consulting services.
I envision expanding Splash and Dash to 300 locations in the next four years. With 37,000 grooming shops across the country, it is a realistic ambition. The licensing service was launched in February 2010 and Splash and Dash for dogs is now in Illinois, Maine, California, New York and Texas, with Florida coming on board soon. It is my belief that every grooming salon should offer Splash and Dash for Dogs.
Splash and Dash for dogs is changing the way grooming salons and retailers do business. There is nothing out there that currently produces a guaranteed revenue stream every month, month after month.
