Brushing a dog’s or cat’s teeth is no easy feat, but if it’s not done regularly or correctly, the pet must be sedated to have plaque and tartar removed. This can be a costly procedure for the pet owner and a risky one for the pet.
So when Bud Groth heard about an oral health care product that removed plaque and tartar without brushing or scaling, he hopped on board to help develop the company. He is now the CFO and president of PetzLife located in Rockford, Minn.
“I said, ‘If product can do what you say it will do, then people will buy it,’” says Groth, who has seen this product work miracles in the mouths of many pets.
With regular administration of the gel or spray into a pet’s mouth, build-up will come off. Within several weeks of regular use, a pet can have a mouthful of pearly whites again, Groth says.
Groth saw this product as an opportunity for consumers to keep their pets’ oral cavities free of bacteria and inflammation without using anesthetic or other invasive or stressful procedures.
“Our goal is to educate the world that there is an alternative to anesthesia,” Groth says. “Anesthesia is not needed for ordinary oral care.”

The company now distributes its products across the globe. “Our product is so successful that we’ve become a multi-million dollar company in just four years,” he says.
Groth says he’s passionate about pet owners and the stories they share with him about how his oral care products have helped their pets. “These pets trust you implicitly,” Groth says. “If something happens, you feel like you’ve betrayed one of your closest and dearest friends.”
Groth has spread his passion for the pet industry onto his children as well. Two of his sons and his daughter are employed at PetzLife.
In addition to dental care products, PetzLife also manufacturers other holistic products, including calming gels, shampoos, and aromatherapy lines.
For Groth, proof of his success is measured by his satisfied customers. “Our products are guaranteed 100 percent,” he says. “We haven’t had a single customer ask for their money back. Instead we have distributors coming to us.” <HOME>
