Pet Head, by Bed Head offers a new line of products for trend-savvy canines

Skaffles LLC has been a pioneer in the accessories business for nearly 30 years. Categories include jewelry, belts, cosmetics, hair accessories and most recently, pet items.
Pet Head, by Bed Head, is a new line of grooming products, apparel, accessories and toys licensed to Skaffles, strictly for dogs. This new line gives canines an opportunity to enjoy funky and innovative products.
“We focus on fashion apparel, jewelry and toys,” say Steven Shweky, president and chief financial officer of Skaffles, based in New York City. “The humanization of pets is something we take seriously. We look at what’s happening on the runway and take ideas from that.”
Pet Head grooming products include shampoos, crème rinses and sprays to accommodate all canines. Pet Head offers 10 grooming products including Poof deodorizing spray “to blast any stinky smell away,” Furball detangling spray that “makes for smooth brushing,” So Spoiled conditioning crème rinse “to give any dog and extra pampering treatment,” and Dirty Talk deodorizing shampoo “to make mutts smell sweet.”

Pet Head was launched at Global Pet Expo in February. There are currently 9,000 salons selling Bed Head products nationwide. Skaffles plans for the Pet Head line to be seen on the same salon shelves. The most popular Pet Head products include the crème rinses, detangling sprays and shampoos.
“Our line takes packaging, creativity and real marking very seriously,” Shweky says. “There’s no cooler product out there only for dogs.”
The Pet Head line prides itself on accommodating all mutts, whether one that needs to go from flat to fluffy or smelly to sweet. The complete line of Pet Head shampoos, crème rinses and sprays are specifically made with ingredients that are formulated to pamper all pups and dogs. More importantly, the Pet Head line of products smells like the Bed Head line, so it leaves dogs smelling just like their human Bed Head users.
Pet Head accessories include cuffs, collar charms, hair bows, bandanas, hats and leashes, all following the current trends. The apparel line is comprised of four categories: Punk Princess, Grungy Pop, City Soul and Biker.
While the Pet Head line currently focuses on products for dog, there are future plans for cat products. There are also products on board to launch at Global in 2009, including an American Kennel Club line of shampoos and clothing.
