Housewares: Vegas Style
The hottest trends in housewares make their way to the hottest convention destination spot this year, May 6 through May 8, at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The annual Gourmet Housewares Show runs concurrently this year with Global Home Décor, Global Home Textiles, the Homewares Show, Lawn and Garden World and the National Hardware Show. The combined mega show offers a window on consumer purchasing habits that span several lifestyle categories.

If you’re looking to add a new product category, particularly a unique pet-themed gift line, you’ll find it here.

The massive scope of this year’s concurrent shows may take some planning before your visit. Downloadable show floor maps and exhibitor’s listings are currently available at the show’s Website. Plan which areas of the floor you’ll visit and map your route to more efficiently visit the vendors who are likely to carry the merchandise you want to consider.

Even with advance planning, count on being on your feet for as many as 10 to 12 hours. To make the most of a show this size, select comfortable, sturdy shoes and consider purchasing insoles. Several types are available, depending on your special needs.

Flat Insoles
The easiest way to convert any shoe into a trade-show shoe; these customizable inserts slip over top of existing insoles and provide total foot comfort. In a pinch, they provide extra comfort, but little support to the arch, which can still leave feet aching after a long day of networking.

Arch Supports
Made of rigid materials, arch supports are designed to hold the foot in its proper position as it strikes the ground. For business travelers with pronation issues, these insoles are a must. They can be difficult to fit and more costly than flat insoles, but the result is less ankle calf and foot pain at the end of the show.

Orthotics
The Cadillac of foot comfort, orthotics must be fitted by a professional orthopedic physician or podiatrist. Each shoe insert is a one-of-a-kind cushion that supports the individual foot in exactly the proper alignment. It takes into account the anatomical differences of each individual’s foot. Molds ensure precise fitting for both the right and left feet.  <HOME>
