K-mart Holding Corp. of Troy, Mich., appointed Aylwin Lewis as its president and chief executive officer, effectively immediately. Lewis will also sit on Kmart's board of directors.
Most recently, Lewis was president and chief multi-branding and operating officer at Yum Brands Inc., a family of restaurant chains including Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC.
Lewis replaces Julian Day, who will remain on the board of directors.
Lewis serves on the board of directors for the Walt Disney Co. and Halliburton Co.
Kmart currently operates 1,504 outlets in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
