Meet Moo, America’s Top Dog Model for 2012

From the Pages of Pet Style NewsAmerica’s Top Dog Model selected The Magnificent Moo, a Great Dane from Indianapolis as the winner of the annual contest.

“During this contest, we searched for top dogs that make a difference in the home,” reported Jo Jo Harder, owner of the Boca Raton, Fla.-based organization and creator of the contest. “We are honored to have Moo represent America’s Top Dog Model organization. He serves as a perfect example of a top dog that makes a house a sweet home.”

Moo’s owner, Kristin Kroft, started researching the Great Dane breed 13 years ago. She was attracted to the breed’s gentleness, loyalty and stunning looks. After one of her family’s four Great Danes passed away last year, Kroft did not expect to get another one so soon, until she saw a photo of Moo. She named him because of the white diamond on the back of his neck, the organization reported.

Kroft describes her schedule as an interior design project manager and a student as hectic and unpredictable. Moo has been great through it all, she said.

“He is always at the door to greet me with a happy face and a wagging tail,” she added.
The sociable dog greets other dogs during their daily walks on the local trails and around the neighborhood.Moo also loves meeting children, according to Kroft. Children walk up to the large dog, and he instantly lies down to let them pet him. He seems so happy to bring joy and laughter to little people, she said.

“Home would not be the same without my sweet Moo,” Kroft said. “He enjoys meeting new people and would love the opportunity to be in front of the camera and make everyone who sees him smile.”

Moo will be featured on the cover of America’s Top Dog Model 2014 calendar as well as represent the month of August inside. He also will appear on the cover of Bella Dog Magazine, along with receiving prizes from several companies including Joy Scott Millinery, Linda Higgins, Lolas for Pets and Gold Paw Series.
