Pet Style Wishes for 2009

At the start of a new year, we all have our hopes and wishes for the months to come. There are so many that I have for our country and our industry, but I thought I’d boil the list down to my top 10 and share.

In 2009, I hope:

1. That customers will continue to shop in pet boutiques, recognizing the value of personal service and the unique mix of products that can only be found in an independent shop.
2. That there will be no pet product safety concerns.
3. That manufacturers will see the room for growth that exists in the cat market.
4. That eco-friendly will become less a trend, and more the general rule of manufacturing.
5. That all designers will consider comfort to be as important as style in pet apparel.
6. That some really cool, new toys enter the market—things that are fun for humans and their pets.
7. That all of the trade shows on the calendar are huge successes for buyers, exhibitors and organizers.
8. That more animals are adopted and fewer families have to give up their beloved pets because they can’t afford to keep them.
9. That a nation-wide economic stimulus plan includes help for small businesses.
10.  That Pet Style News will do a great job of reporting all the action, trends, and news to our readers.
