Spring Colors

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Temperatures are starting to drift upward and robins are hopping around on lawns across the country. This can mean only one thing: Spring is on its way.

With that in mind, I was on the lookout for new colors when I looked through the March issue of Vogue today. No need to talk about cover girl Michelle Obama’s fabulous dress and toned arms since they’ve been discussed at length everywhere else, but I did notice in just the first few sections that various shades of blue appear to be very hot for this upcoming season. A lot of the ads (which make up half of what’s so great about Vogue) feature dresses, jackets and other items in blue. I suspect the pet market may follow suit. We’re not talking typical blues, either. I see slate, super-saturated royal blue, aquas and a wide range of atypical shades.

If it’s hot in the human market, we know what’s next, so here’s my advice: Go blue; go now.

Last weekend’s Luxury Pet Pavilion event in L.A. was a fabulous show, with a lot of new vendors I hadn’t met before and a decent crowd of buyers. Sunday was the slower day of the two, but word has it the organizers are switching next year’s show from a Saturday/Sunday schedule to a Friday/Saturday one. That seems like a smart move to me.

Thanks to all the manufacturers I met at the show. Don’t forget to send me your high-resolution photos to be considered for the magazine and website!
