BrightPet Nutrition Group has named Dave Kowal as its new CEO. Kowal’s previous experience includes president of Champion Foods, president of Little Caesars Fundraising, CEO and president of U.S. Bakery Products at Dawn Food Products and director of marketing for national accounts, food service and bakery at The Pillsbury Co.

“We are thrilled to have Dave join our leadership team,” said Matthew Golladay, a third-generation stakeholder at BrightPet. “He not only brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him, but also an energy that aligns with our aggressive position for future growth.”

BrightPet’s new hierarchy allows Golladay to transition into a role with concentrated focus on private label and manufacturing opportunities with both domestic and international customers, officials said in a statement.

“These changes continue an already active year of growth for BrightPet Nutrition Group following the acquisition of the former Miracle Corp. and its portfolio of assets,” officials added.

BrightPet, which is based in Lisbon, Ohio, is the parent company of Blackwood, Adirondack and By Nature, and is contract manufacturer for Ohio Pet Foods, BNG Phoebe and Southern Tier Pet Nutrition.
