Whitebridge Pet Brands is rolling out the Remedy+Recovery (R+R) line of over-the-counter pet first aid products under its Dogswell brand umbrella. The line of products—originally branded under the Cardinal Laboratories, which Whitebridge acquired in 2020—will also sport a new look and packaging.
Known for its skin and wound care products, surgical recovery collars and other canine first aid solutions, R+R’s longstanding proven formulas will remain the same despite the rebranding, said Jessika Zulic, senior brand manager for Dogswell.
“As one of the leading at-home first aid brands, Remedy+Recovery products are trusted by pet parents for their effectiveness in treating a wide range of conditions, from wounds and infections to skin rashes and diarrhea,” Zulic said. “Retailers and consumers can be assured that the rebranded R+R products will be exactly the same on the inside as the ones they have relied on for years.”
The packaging will continue to display the familiar Remedy+Recovery cross logo above the Dogswell name. The rebranded line will include four categories: skin care, wound care, gastrointestinal health and surgery recovery.
As a member of the Dogswell family, R+R first aid products will benefit from the synergy of being part of a brand dedicated to providing targeted health and wellness solutions for dogs, according to officials. Known for its functional foods and treats, Dogswell can communicate to pet owners across a wide range of health and wellness categories and will be able to bring pet first aid to more consumers, Zulic said.
“For example, pet parents concerned about skin care could shop both Dogswell Skin & Coat treats for everyday proactive wellness and Dogswell R+R Skin Care products during flare-ups or allergy season,” she added.
This gives Dogswell and its retailers “more muscle to tap into the huge potential of the pet health/first aid category, which has been on a tremendous upswing over the past year due to more people having pets and a greater focus on health and wellness,” officials said. A SPINS-Goldman Sachs report targeting the neighborhood pet store channel reported a 62 percent sales growth in the pet med and first aid category during the 52 weeks ending Oct. 4, 2020, officials cited.
Whitebridge’s other brands include Tiki Pets, Buddy Biscuits, Crazy Dog, Pet Botanics and Cloud Star.
